Urgent Care Centres
Our Urgent Care Centres operate 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
For life threatening emergencies including chest pain, snake bites, serious injuries and possible fractures, please do not delay and call 000 for an ambulance.
Where are our Urgent Care Centres located?
We have Urgent Care Centres at the Beaufort and Skipton campuses. Enter via the front hospital reception.
What do we do?
Our Urgent Care Centres are a walk in service for people with minor illnesses and injuries requiring immediate attention. The centres are staffed 24 hours a day by our nurses. Depending on your clinical needs, the nurse may consult with one of our GPs or with My Emergency Doctor (an off-site telehealth service).
Our nurses are highly trained Registered Nurses who maintain annual Advanced Cardiac Life Support accreditation and advanced assessment capabilities. We also have a small number of Rural and Isolated Practice Registered Nurses (RIPRNs). RIPRNS are nurses who can administer a small, and controlled amount of medications without the prescription of a GP or Health Service doctor.
What can you expect?
When you arrive you will be assessed by one of our nurses and triaged accordingly. The most urgent cases will be seen first.
If you require care that cannot be provided by us, you will be transferred to a larger hospital, usually Grampians Health – Ballarat Campus Emergency Department by ambulance. If you are transferred by ambulance, you are responsible for the cost. For Ambulance Victoria members and pensioners this cost will be covered.
