HEALTH SERVICE SHINES A LIGHT ON WOMEN’S HEALTH
Women’s Health Week will be held from the 2nd to the 6th of September and Beaufort and Skipton Health Service is gearing up to spotlight the importance of women’s health in our community.
While many women are diligent about their health, statistics still indicate that common health conditions and chronic diseases often go untreated, and vital information about available treatments may still not be reaching those who need it most.
This year’s theme, “Your Voice, Your Choice,” reflects the Health Service’s commitment to empowering women to take control of their health. Dedicated Health Service staff have been planning diligently to ensure no stone goes unturned so local women can have access to the resources they need to lead healthy, fulfilling lives and to celebrate and prioritise women’s health in the community.
Meryn Pease, CEO of the Beaufort and Skipton Health Service, has been closely involved in the planning of this important week. “This week is vital to me, I really want to shine a light on the gaps in health care for women,” Ms. Pease stated. With years of experience as both a midwife and a health service executive, she understands that education and empowerment are key to improving community health outcomes. “Our hope is to empower women in their health journey,” Ms Pease added.
Throughout Women’s Health Week, the Health Service will offer Health Information Session that will cover topics such as cervical, breast and bowel screening. In addition to the Health Information Sessions, Gentle Exercise Sessions have also been scheduled for the community to take part in.
At Beaufort a Gentle Exercise Session has been organised for Tuesday 3 September 2024 at 9.30am and a Health Information Session has been organised for Wednesday 4 September 2024 at 2pm. Both Beaufort sessions will be held at the Beaufort Senior Citizens Centre, 27-29 Pratt Street, Beaufort
The Skipton Health Information Session is organised for Tuesday 3 September 2024 at 2 pm, while the Gentle Exercise Session is organised for Wednesday 4 September 2024 at 9.30am. The Skipton sessions will be held at Beaufort and Skipton Health Service, Day Centre Room, 2 Blake Street, Skipton.
