NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK

Posted by: on

With National Volunteer Week approaching, we would like to highlight the many benefits to volunteering. It’s not just for the organisation or area in which you dedicate your time, there are significant benefits to us as individuals when we volunteer. Volunteering is a wonderful way to give back to your community. It instantly makes a positive impact on the lives of others, whether it be those you’re working with or those you’re working for.

Volunteering brings people together who share a common goal of helping others, creating a sense of camaraderie and friendship that often lasts a lifetime. This social connection can help combat feelings of loneliness and isolation and replace it with a sense of purpose and joy. It is recognised to consistently improve mental health and emotional wellbeing.

In addition, to the social benefits, volunteering also has positive effects on physical health. Studies have shown that volunteering can help combat depression, increase self-confidence, and provide a sense of purpose. Volunteering can also help you stay physically healthy by keeping you active and engaged in meaningful activities. If you are interested in volunteering, consider your interests and passions to find opportunities that are fulfilling and enjoyable for you.

Volunteering can also advance your career opportunities by teaching you valuable job skills and providing you with hands on experience in a particular field. Whether you are looking to gain experience in healthcare, education, or social services, volunteering can be a great way to build you resume and make connections in your desired industry.

If you are looking for volunteering opportunities, we welcome people to speak to us at Beaufort and Skipton Health Service about what opportunities may be an option, and we have many. We invite you to contact us to discuss how you can get involved in our programs. We have several volunteer opportunities available such as delivery of Meals on Wheels, Community Transport Drivers, community representatives on our committees, visiting with residents and assisting our Leisure and Lifestyle activities, just to name a few.

We are looking for friendly, compassionate, and caring volunteers who are interest in enriching the lives of others. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those in need and create a stronger, more connected community.
