BSHS - Statement
Beaufort and Skipton Health Service reassures residents of Skipton that the future of the GP clinic is secure. Any claims otherwise are completely unfounded.
Our focus is ensuring the highest level of primary care possible at the clinic for the people of Skipton, now and into the future.
We have sourced a locum doctor to continue providing a high level of care for the community starting on 13 January 2020 for three months and are working to find a permanent replacement.
In addition, Dr Malcolm Anderson is available in Skipton every Friday as normal. Alternatively, appointments can also be made with Dr Phil Kyaw or Dr Pushpa Ravindranayagam at Beaufort medical practice 5 days a week. Beaufort is a twenty minute drive, much closer than Ballarat.
The Board’s decision to not renew Dr Al Naima’s contract was made after taking into account the findings of an independent investigation undertaken by a specialist lawyer from Workplace relations. It only applies to Beaufort and Skipton Heath Service.
The Health Service is totally committed to maintaining a GP service in Skipton.
