Graduate Nurse Transition to Practice Program

Part time (0.8 EFT) Fixed Term (12 months)

An exciting opportunity exists for three candidate to join our Graduate Nurse Program for 2022. 

At BSHS we take only 3 graduates for the year which allow for us to tailor your clinical experiences to meet your areas of interests and ensure your growth as a registered nurse. We have a focus on leadership and time management by providing the opportunity for the graduate to work in a variety of areas. Both Beaufort and Skipton campuses allow for experiences in residential care, sub – acute, acute and urgent care.

BSHS strive for the graduate to:

  • Consolidate and extend their experience in the delivery of health care that is person focused
  • Work affectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Collaborate with other health services, building connections and networks
  • Use reflective practice to enhance learning opportunities with the aim of developing critical thinking and situational awareness skills
  • Be able to accept and work with effective feedback to improve practice

The Transition to Practice (TTP) program includes:

  • Orientation at both BHS and BSHS
  • Initial 1 week study block at BHS
  • 3 rotations, one at each of Skipton, Beaufort and BHS
  • Supernumerary time at the commencement of each rotation
  • Attendance at study days run through BHS with graduates from other health services
  • Participation in the Care of the Older Person (COOPs) program
  • Support from clinical staff and Education department

Administration Officer - Medical Practice

Part time (8 hours per week) Ongoing

We are currently seeking a professional and highly motivated part-time Administration Officer to join our team at the Skipton Medical Practice.  This part time position is for every Thursday with availability for leave cover. The successful applicant will be based at the Skipton Campus, however will be required to work across both sites as rostered.

Key duties include:

  • Greeting patients and checking into the IT system
  • Attending to patient needs as required
  • Answering incoming phone calls and arranging appointments
  • Produce invoices and processing payments, including cash and EFTPOS
  • Processing Medicare payments
  • Coordinate with internal technical staff regarding patient's needs

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills & attributes:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Sound organisational and administrative skills
  • The ability to prioritise tasks working in a busy and dynamic working environment
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred, but not essential
  • Experience in Microsoft office suite of products and use of medical data bases (Best Practice).

Occupational Therapist

Part time (up to 32 hours per week) ongoing

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Occupational Therapist. The position is situated in the Community Services team and is expected to work across acute, residential and community teams.The Occupational Therapist will work across both the Beaufort and Skipton campus.

The role is designed to provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention to those community clients that access Community services at Beaufort and Skipton Health Services, as well as current inpatients and residents.

Key requirements include:

  • Timely and appropriate occupational therapy services to inpatients, aged care residents, and primary care clients.
  • Knowledge of assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of current Occupational Therapy practice across a range of clinical settings including community, residential aged care and acute environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as an individual practitioner within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong computer literacy skills, including the ability to utilise computer software programs and Microsoft Office products.

Podiatrist

Permanent - Part-time (0.4 EFT)

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Podiatrist. The position is situated in the Community Services team and is expected to work across acute, residential and community teams.The Podiatrist will be based at Skipton, but may need to work across both the Beaufort and Skipton campus.

The role is designed to provide specialist Podiatrist services to assist clients to regain functional capacity with mobility and transfers using contemporary and best practice techniques that include health promotion, education in self-management, and the provision of podiatry services to Beaufort and Skipton Health Service clients.

Key requirements include:

  • Timely and appropriate podiatry services to inpatients, aged care residents, and primary care clients.
  • Knowledge of assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of current Podiatry practice across a range of clinical settings including community, residential aged care and acute environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as an individual practitioner within a multidisciplinary team environment.
